Stuff stopping me from blogging…

- No Internet at home, because of…

- Moving to Surrey proper.

- Work. And relating to that…

- Union stuff.

- Actual, real world, politics.

- The sun being out.

- Beer.

Not quite in that order.

Socialist Bloggers’ Meetup IV: Beermageddon… coming this September to a group of socialist bloggers near you… stay tuned for further updates!

    Hi Kit

Can I put in a request re piss up date. I’m away (and Dave) from the 22nd Sept to beginning of October, week in Paris. Can you make it earlier and i’ll bring back a souvenir ;-)

You could probably kip at Dave’s after (if we ask him nicely and stay away from his guitars and fridge ;-) ).

Hey, if it’s sleepover at Dave’s, may as well have the booze-up in Hackney! How about the conveniently-located Pembury Tavern?!

  3. 3 Stroppybird August 14, 2007 at 5:55 am

oh dear, I must stop inviting strange leftie blokes round to Dave’s , I think he still has nightmares about the last time ;-)

    Janine,
I think people want it more central, near a station .

Hey up, piss up sounds good to me :)
last time most people who turned up were hackney or east london based so makes sense to be central east ish - How about The Foundry by Old street station?

Quite a few aren’t though . Kit, Volty, Mike A, Denham for instance ? I think Susan P (who has now joined Dolls4Jim on facebook :-) ) is coming as well.

Volunteers to put up Denham for the night ;-)

September for me is packed already with Labour Party Conference from Sept 22 and on Sept 29 am expecting tribes of lefties (hopefully) in Hebden Bridge for LRC event - so might not make immediate piss-up but hopefully in future….for future reference, train gets in @ either Kings Cross or Euston depending on whether come from Manchester or leeds. would also need floor to sleep on….as last trains back are ridiculously early…… hope to get along at some point…..

  7. 7 Janine August 16, 2007 at 1:43 pm

It is near a station - hackney downs station! (and hackney central)

  8. 8 Stroppybird August 16, 2007 at 2:13 pm

I was thinking more Kings Cross . Of course you could always volunteer to put up Denham for the night. last time we had Kit, Volty and Mike R round Dave’s but he draws the line at Denham ;-)

  9. 9 Mike August 23, 2007 at 6:21 pm

Are you sure he doesn’t draw the line at me now, after the incident with the tomatoes…? ;-)

  10. 10 Stroppybird August 24, 2007 at 2:28 pm

    Mike

If I keep inviting weird drunken leftie men back to Dave’s I can see the line being drawn at me as well ;-)

I do love the idea of a ‘tomato incident’. I think this was before you were in your underpants with a sheet over your head ;-)

If it’s a convenient date I can put some poor soul up on the floor of my student accommodation.

    Might I suggest either:
    a) that we go to “De Hems” on Shaftesbury Avenue, which is a really good pub.
    b) that we do the Marx pub crawl: http://www.mytimemachine.co.uk/pubcrawl.htm

  13. 13 el Tom September 17, 2007 at 10:12 pm

Surrey proper? Whereabouts? You might be near me… would be nice to go for a beer at some point.

  14. 14 Mike September 21, 2007 at 6:22 pm

Suggestion: put the piss-up up as an event on Facebook, otherwise everyone will forget about it.

Hope all’s well, see you soon :-)

Yes, that’s right. My point is that if it’s an event to which people are invited then a reminder will show up onm their Facebook page. This would be a good thing for me as (a) I spend too much time on Facebook and (b) I’ve got a brain like a Swiss cheese…!
